The
one-story, front-gabled, simple-folk form house with Craftsman details sits
close to Johnston Drive facing east. It is three-bays wide and
three-bays deep with a pronounced roof overhang supported by brackets with
exposed rafter ends. The facade features a full-width porch, which is
supported by tapered half posts which rest on tall brick piers. The
porch shelters a Craftsman-Style door and two six-over-six replacement
windows. Original features include rectangular, wooden vents,
six-over-six windows, and an internal chimney. The house is covered
with wood and sits on brick piers, which have been infilled with block.

Summarizing Known History Of The Property.
The home was moved from around Hill Street,
which is located southwest of the mill.
In the 1940s, the expansion of Cone Mills resulted in the growth of the
initial mill village. Modest, two-room, shotgun homes were built on
what was once called "Rabbit Hill." These homes were built for the new
workers and their families who moved to Pineville. Many of the homes
that were on the hill have been demolished.
